Oki-doki!

Omi and Opi are watching the kids while Craig and I flew out to Oklahoma to go house hunting. We’re still right here in OKC but will be flying back to Cali tomorrow.

Oklahoma is rather flat, with maybe a few hills here and there, but nothing like New England or Oregon. At least it’s not as brown or tree-less as I thought. Oklahoma City is AWESOME! Of course it can’t compare to Boston, but I already like it very much. It’s got this district called ‘Bricktown‘ where you can find one old brick building after the other. They used to be old factories but with the years transformed into cool boutiques, restaurants and clubs. Then there’s also the Riverwalk right there in Bricktown where you can buy a passage on a little boat to take a romantic trip along the canal right amidst all the brick buildings. (Kind of like in Venice just not as grand…lol)

Norman is pretty nice too. The University campus is huge! The University of Oklahoma is famous for their football team. Go Sooners! 😀 So the flair of Norman is kind of comparable to the Eugene flair – typical college town. Good for us because that means plenty of younger families such as ourselves!

We’ve seen lots of really nice homes on our trip and might just have found the right one for us. Wish us luck so that our offer goes through and we’ll have a new home to come to after our vacation in OR!

Omi und Opi passen zur Zeit auf die Kinder auf während Craig und ich unseren Trip nach Oklahoma gemacht haben um ein Haus zu finden. Morgen fliegen wir wieder zurück nach Kalifornien.

Oklahoma ist eher ein flacher Staat mit weniger Bergen/Hügeln im Vergleich zu Neuengland oder Oregon. Immerhin ist’s nicht so braun oder dörr wie ich immer dachte. Oklahoma City ist echt klasse und gefällt mir richtig gut! Natürlich ist’s nicht zu vergleichen mit Boston, aber ich mag die Stadt jetzt schon sehr. Es gibt da einen coolen Stadtteil der sich ‘Bricktown‘ nennt. Da sind sämtliche Häuser wie der Namen schon sagt aus Brick/Backstein. Früher war das wohl das Industriegebiet doch mitlerweile haben sich dort hippe Boutiquen, Restaurants und Clubs niedergelassen. Inmitten des Bricktowns gibts auch einen sogenannten ‘Riverwalk’. Dort kann man eine romantische Bootsfahrt auf einem Kanal direkt durch Bricktown machen. (Ist so in der Art wie in Venedig halt nur nicht ganz so toll…lol)

Die Stadt Norman ist auch recht cool. Der Uni Campus ist riesig! Die Oklahoma Uni ist in ganz USA bekannt für deren Football Team. Go Sooners! 😀 Das Flair von Norman ist also vergleichbar wie mit Eugene – typiche Unistadt halt. Das ist recht gut für uns, denn das bedeutet viele junge Familien wie wir es sind!

Wir haben uns auf unserem Trip schon viele Häuser angeguckt und haben evtl. sogar schon das richtige gefunden. Drückt uns die Daumen, dass unser Angebot angenommen wird und wir dann nach unserem Urlaub in Oregon schon gleich zu unserem neuen Heim einreisen können!
