Fall has arrived | Atlanta Portrait Photographer

It’s fall season and I couldn’t be more excited. Fall is my favorite Season!

Between work, baby X and keeping up with life in general I got a bit behind on taking the kids’ “back to school” pictures. I didn’t even make it on time to take them during the same week they had their school pictures done (which is usually what I end up doing). So yesterday, after dropping off dinner to my friend Amanda from church who just recently had her baby, the girls took it upon themselves to get all ready for “fall pictures”. It scares me at times when I realize how much the kids have grown. They are now, all three of them, almost as tall as me! (I’m 5’4″.) Zaynah is now 14 and the twins, Mikalah & Caleb, are 12. It’s crazy to watch them grow up into these talented, smart, beautiful, funny, at times completely annoying and exasperating, little adults! Someone please slow down time ( and yes, I do realize the irony because that would mean I remain pregnant with baby X for longer – which really I wouldn’t mind either!) so that we can enjoy these kids a while longer.

Zaynah is now in 8th grade and FINALLY started taking a foreign language. It’s a shame that Cobb County (or at least the schools our kids attend) does not offer a foreign language in elementary levels! To think I started with English as my first foreign language in 5th grade and then added my 2nd, French, in 7th…it kills my European heart! She is still very much into art and design. She has re-arranged her bedroom probably 4 times already since we moved into the house last summer. She also enjoys fashion (sketching with pencils and watercolors and designing new outfits) and was the wardrobe stylist & hair and makeup artist for this shoot. She did quit playing the flute at school but is already looking forward to hopefully re-join the track team. She is wicked fast on her sprints!

Mikalah & Caleb are in 6th grade now and are officially in Middle School. They are both in all AC classes. Praying they’ll be able to stick with those all throughout their Middle School years.

Mikalah is my fellow bookworm. She LOVES to read, especially young adult and fantasy books. She’s always asking me to take her to the library and is often reading multiple books at the same time. Wonder where she got that from. LoL She also started playing the Viola and seems to really enjoy it. Can’t wait to hear her play alongside Zi for our Christmas Eve celebrations. Kiwi is my straight A student and although she works really hard at maintaining her good grades (she is super competitive) she also has developed a knack for the arts and has been drawing and sketching in her very own sketchbook and journal. Both her and Zaynah seem to have inherited their artistic side from me.

Caleb loves Math (and P.E. of course). As a former Math major, this makes me very happy. He is still very much into soccer and thinks Lionel Messi is the greatest player in all of soccer history. Every book report or essay he has to write for Language Arts etc. is usually about Messi. It cracks us up. He isn’t a huge reader but when he finds a good series…he is consumed. He is currently finishing up the final book in the Michael Vey series. He’s a total ladies’ man, and knows it too, the little stinker. One of the highlights for him this year was when he turned 12 and received the priesthood at church. It is absolutely wonderful to watch him pass out sacrament at church on Sundays. I don’t even think he realizes how happy it makes me or how proud I am of him.

The kids, especailly Zi, are getting more and more excited for baby X to join the Clan. I’m 35 weeks today so it’s not too much longer. I hope y’all are enjoying your fall season thus far.

Der Herbst ist endlich bei uns eingetroffen und ich freu mich total. Herbst ist meine liebste Jahreszeit!

Zwischen meinen Jobs, Schwangerschaft mit Baby X und den täglichen Haushalt bin ich leider etwas spät dran mit meinen regelmässigen Fotos von den Kids. Normalerweise mache ich welche wenn sie weider mit der Schule anfangen nach den Sommerferien und dann nochmal welche wenn sie in der Schule Fotos machen. Und dieses Mal bin ich sogar nach diesen Fotos dran. Was eine Schande! Gestern haben wir uns aber dann endlich die Zeit dazu genommen aktuelle Fotos von den Kids zu machen. Ich hab Abendessen bei meiner Freundin Amanda aus der Kirche vorbei gebracht die auch erst vor kurzem ihr 2. Kind auf die Welt gebracht hat. Während ich unterwegs war haben die Mädels sich fertig gemacht für das ihre ‘Herbstfotos’. Ich erschreck mich fast täglich wenn ich sehe wie groß die Kids mitlerweile sind.  Alle drei sind fast schon so groß wie ich, und ich bin ja ‘nur’ 1,54m groß. Zaynah ist jetzt 14 and die Zwillinge, Mikalah & Caleb, sind 12 Jahre alt. Es ist wahnsinn wie schnell die Kids groß werden und sich in diese talentierte, clevere, hübsche, lustige und oft auch komplett nervende & zur Verzweiflung treibe Mini-Erwachsene entwickeln. Gibt es nicht etwas was die Zeit verlangsamt (und ja, ich verstehe die Ironie und das ich dann auch noch länger schwanger mit Baby X wäre, wo ich absolut Null gegen hätte!) damit wir die Kids noch etwas länger als Kinder genießen können?!

Zaynah ist jetzt in der 8. Klasse und hat endlich ihre erste Fremdsprache in der Schule. Sie hat sich für Spanisch entschieden weil Deutsch leider noch nicht auf dem Programm war. Ich finde es grausam das die Schulen hier bei uns im Bezirk (oder zumindestens die Schule auf die unsere Kids gehen) erst ab der 8. Klasse eine Fremdsprache in den Stundenplan inegrieren. Wenn ich mir überlege das ich in der 5. Klasse meine erste Fremdsprache, Englisch, hatte und dann in der 7. mit Französich schon die 2. Fremdsprache hatte….mein europäisches Herz blutet! Zi ist immernoch schwer begeistert von Kunst & Design. Ich glaub sie hat ihr Schlafzimmer schon mindestens 4 Mal komplett umgeräumt und umgestylt seid wir letztes Jahr im Sommer hier in’s Haus eingezogen sind. Sie ist außerdem sehr interessiert an Fashion (sie zeichnet mit Holzstiften und Wasserfarben und designed Kleider). Sie hat sich, Mikalah & Caleb für das Schooting gestylt, frisiert und war die Visagistin. Sehr praktisch kann ich dazu nur sagen! Leider hatte sie keine Lust mehr die Querflöte weiter zu spielen und hat seid diesem Jahr damit aufgehört. Aber sie wartet schon geduldid auf den Frühling wenn die Leistungssport Saison beginnt. Sie ist extrem schnell auf den kurzen Strecken!

Mikalah & Caleb sind jetzt in der 6. Klasse und somit wie Zaynah endlich in der Middle School. Beide haben den Sprung von der Grundschule geschafft und sind in AC für all ihre Klasse. (Das sind Klassen wo die Kids mehr gefördert werden weil ihre Noten so gut sind.) Ich hoffe und bete das sie es schaffen werden alle 3 Jahre in der Middle School in AC Klassen zu sein.

Mikalah ist wie ich eine totale Leseratte. Sie liebt Bücher. Besonder Young Adult und Fantasy. Sie fragt mich regelmässig ob wir zur Bibliothek fahren können damit sie ein neues Buch ausleihen kann. Des öfteren liest sie sogar mehrere Bücher auf einmal. (Wo sie DAS nur her hat?!) Seid diesem Jahr spielt sie Viola, eine Art Violine. Es scheint ihr viel Spaß zu machen und ich freue mich jetzt schon auf das Duett das sie und Zizi an heilig Abend für uns vorspielen werden. Kiwi ist außerdem meine 1A Schülerin. Sie arbeitet viel daran ihre 1er auf dem Zeugnis zu haben, ist sehr konkurrenzstark, und hat gleichzeitig ein neue Hobby im Zeichnen gefunden. Sie hat ihr eigenens Sketchbuch wo sie ihre Zeichnungen ansammelt. Sie ist richtig gut! Meine 2 Mädels scheinen wohl ihre artistische Seiten von mir geerbt zu haben.

Caleb’s Lieblings Klasse ist Matte. (Und Sport natürlich.) Als ehemalige Math LK-lerin freue ich mich sehr darüber das er wie ich Mathe genießt. Er spielt immernoch Fussball und ist fest der Meinung das Lionel Messi der Beste Fussball überhaupt ist. Fast jeder Aufsatz oder Buch Reportage dir er für die Schule machen muss ist über ihn. Zum Schießen sag ich da nur! Er ist kein großer Leser, aber wenn er mal eine gute Serie hat, dann kann er das Buch nicht weglegen. So war es mit Harry Potter und er liest derzeit das letzte Buch in der Michael Vey Serie. Er hat die Mädels und seinen Effekt auf sie erkannt und ist ein totaler Charmeur, unser kleiner Stinker. Eines seiner Highlights dieses Jahr war das er 12 wurde und somit in der Kirche das Priestertum bekommen hat. Es ist so toll ihn Sonntags zu beobachten wenn er das Abendmahl ausgibt. Ich denken nicht das er sich überhaupt vorstellen kann wie glücklich mich das macht und wie Stolz ich auch ihn bin das er diesen Schritt genommen hat.

Die Kids, besonders Zi, freuen sich mehr und mehr auf die Geburt von Baby X. Bin ab heute in der 35. SSW und hab nicht mehr lange vor mir bis wir das nächste Mitglied im Cloward Clan willkommen heißen können. Ich hoffe ihr genießt alle ebenso euren Start in den Herbst.

We love a good pumpkin patch during fall season and of course the traditional fall street markets and fairs but I’m sure I don’t know where all the really cool spots are since we just moved her last summer. So please, feel free to leave a comment with a recommendation for things we should do around Atlanta during fall.

I will forever cherish these crazy pictures…Mikalah and her death stare, Zaynah who is a selfie queen but usually struggles with actually looking into the camera during pictures! And CJ …he’s just his cool self. ROFL!
