Four beauty looks perfect for any party.

I was inspired to create a few different party looks for the upcoming holidays. With New Year’s just around the corner maybe they will inspire someone to try something new.
I’ve recently been reading the Big Magic and I realized that I truly should NOT let the inspiration I had slip away and with the help of social media I found myself working with a group of four lovely ladies who let me play with their hair and makeup. I tried to get a nice variety of skin tones and hair textures, so you’ll see fair skin, olive skin, straight long hair, short blond hair and natural curly hair. Big thanks to Alex, Angela, Joy & Hayley for being your wonderful and beautiful selves.

A full face of makeup is not necessary but I love how it can help accentuate and highlight our beautiful facial features, and at times boost our confidence and self-love. So, play with it and try new things, see if you can add a new favorite look to your usual repertoire.

Ich war über die letzten Wochen inspiriert eine Reie verschiedener Party Looks zu kreieren. Vielleicht fühlt Ihr euch ja inspiriert von einem meiner Looks für die nächste Party, Silvester ist ja gleich um die Ecke!

Ich habe vor kurzem das Buch Big Magic gelesen und mir wurde bewusst das ich diese Inspiration und Idee zur Realität machen muss damit sie nicht verfliegt. Dank Social Media hab ich eine wundervolle Gruppe Mädels gefunden die es mir erlaubt haben mit ihren Haaren und Makeup zu spielen. Ich hab versucht einen guten Mix an Haut- und Haartyp für euch zu finden. Von heller Haut zu olive, lange braune Haare, kurze blonde und sogar natürliche Locken. Ein großes Dankeschön an die zauberhaften Alex, Angela, Joy & Hayley.

Ich bin fest der Meinung das man nicht unbedingt Makeup braucht, allerdings ist es für mich ein Hilfsmittel die schönsten Gesichtsmerkmale hervorzuheben und es kann das Selbswertgefühl und die Selbstliebe stärken. Also, spiel ein bißchen mit deinem Makeup und probier mal einen neuen Look aus, vielleicht sogar einer von meinen vier hier.

Look 1: Alex

Light to medium skin, green eyes and brown long hair.

For Alex I decided to give her a messy updo with a few braids mixed in. It  is really super easy. I started with the side braid along her head by her right ear first then in sections twisted and loosely pinned up her hair on the side. I added a second braid above her other ear which I then curled around the messy bun. Pulling some of her strands out a bit and giving it a loose and simplistic look. For Alex I decided to keep a classic makeup look, using gold hues to accentuate her green eyes. Soft hues all over her lid, with darker browns blended into her crease. Multiple layers of mascara plus a bit of gold under the inner corners of the eyes. The gold under the eye was too blended out into a darker brown to open up the eyes and give her that doe eyed look. A bit of soft peachy-pink blush and LipSense lipstick in Plum Pretty topped with Pearl Gloss completed her look.

Look 2: Angela

Fair skin, blond pixie cut with colored highlights and blue eyes.

Love me a fellow pixie girl! For Angela I simply curled the longer layers, away from the face to better frame it, and highlight those fun colored pieces she’s got going on. Angela has a spunky personality and so I really wanted to give her a bold lip and make those baby blues of her POP. The key to making any eye color pop is using complimentary colors. If you are unsure on what color to use for your eye color, check out this color wheel chart. Picking a color opposite your eye color will have the most dramatic effect. So in Angela’s case I used copper tones, all over the lid, again using darker shades mixed with a soft (well blended!) black on the outer corners and a soft black eye liner. I love using eye shadow on a small angled brush as a soft eye liner. On the bottom I used the darkest copper shade from the lid as an overall liner and a nude cream liner in her bottom water line. Yup, those blues are poppin’ all right! With fair or porcelain skin I usually stick to the lighter shades of blush, such as a soft peach or very soft pink. You can always add more but you don’t ever want to look like a clown, unless that’s part of your costume for Halloween or whatever. LOL And as mentioned before Andrea is such a spunky and fun person, so I wanted BOLD lips to go with those bright blue eyes and fun attitude. LipSense Mulled Wine topped with Pearl Gloss was the perfect shade!

Look 3: Joy

Olive skin, medium long, fine brown hair and hazel eyes.

Joy has medium long, thin hair, so I gave her soft curls for texture with the help of a 1″ flat iron and used hair powder, aka hair crack, to give her fine hair a bit more volume. I love using this stuff! Here’s a link to my favorite kind on Amazon. With Joy’s olive skin tone I was able to add more blush and she’s got these gorgeous almond shaped eyes that really needed to be highlighted so I added a black gel liner, no flick but instead a bit stronger on the outside corners. I’m calling her eyes hazel because she’s got flecks of brown by her iris. I used pink hues for Joy on her lid and topped those off with this really fun loose metallic powder in a rose gold. The key to using glitters and metallic powders is making sure you are using a wet brush to apply the concoction. You can use a bit of water or if you have it, a spritz of finishing spray. Otherwise you’ll find yourself cleaning up all that glitter from areas you didn’t want it to go. Since I used rose gold and rose tones on her eyes I went for a bright pink-ish red on her lips. I think this shade (LipSense Strawberry Shortcake topped with Glossy Gloss) is a perfect shade for Joy’s olive skin!

Look 4: Hayley

Medium skin, blue eyes, natural full and curly hair.

Hayley is still a teenager so we kept her look simple, highlighting her beautiful eyes. She  has fantastic brows to frame those blue eyes with so all I had to do was shape the brows with a bit of pomade and add a bit of brow gel to keep that texture and fullness she’s got going on. Hayley has a feline shape to her eyes so I wanted to really highlight that by keeping the outer corners darker and adding a bit of light in the inside corners. Hayley also wears glasses and often you find yourself tricked into thinking your eyes look smaller once you put on those glasses, so for her as well I chose a nude shade liner for her bottom water line to open and brighten up those eyes. She also has these super cute cheek bones which I accentuated with just a bit of contouring, highlight and soft blush. I’ve never seen Hayley with straight hair, so we decided after we took pictures with her natural curls to mix things up and give her a 2nd hair do. When working with hot tools such as curling wands and irons, always make sure you are using heat protectant products first and keep the heat to the right temperature. If you have fine hair such as Joy, you want to use a lower heat setting, and for Hayley a medium to high temperature is what we needed. I first used heat protectant, than actually used a large round brush to blow out her curls. Each section was then smoothed out with a 1″ flat iron and I added a soft wave (again, away from the face) to better frame her face. She looks like a different person, but each version just as beautiful! On the eyes I also chose more neutral colors with a hint of brown and gold. I see Hayley at church on Sunday’s and I know she likes a dark lip color, so I gave her some LipSense in the shade Currant with Glossy Gloss.
