I was so utterly bummed that, while we were in Oregon over the Christmas Holidays, we missed the big blizzard here in OK! And I didn’t even get any snow – at all! – while in Oregon. So…. just imagine my joy when we got not just tons of ice, but also tons of snow over the past 2 days. WOOHOO!!!! Me so happy.

I can’t even see out of my office window!!! haha

I had to use a shovel and bang on my mailbox to open it.

So now that I’ve had my share of snow and ice….. it can all melt away and not come back until next year. Afterall, I do prefer warmer weather. lol

Ich war ja sowas von enttäuscht, das wir den riesen Schneesturm über die Weihnachtszeit verpasst hatten, als wir bei Craig’s Eltern in Oregon waren! Und wir hatten noch nichtmal Schnee hoch in den Bergen von Oregon. So eine frechheit! Also könnt ihr euch sicherlich vorstellen wir glücklich ich derzeit bin, denn wir hatten nochmal einen Sturm über die letzten 2 Tage und alles ist voller Eis und Schnee. Jippieh!!!! Da freu ich mich doch so sehr drüber.

Da ich jetzt auch endlich meinen Anteil vom Schnee hatte, kann er wieder schmilzen und brauch nichtmehr wiederzukommen bis nächstes Jahr. Ich bevorzuge doch eher das wärmere Klima. lol

This is something I dearly miss in Oklahoma. Living in Connecticut and in Oregon for many years, and growing up in Germany, I always was just a few minutes away from the woods. I love hiking. I love just walking through the woods. It’s something I thoroughly enjoy doing by myself of with the others. I call it our ‘Adventure Days’ with the kiddos. We grab ziploc bags, hike through the woods and collect cool things that we then stuff into our bags. Then when we’re back home we go through our treasures and if we can – name them.

Craig’s parents live right in the woods. It’s like heaven. If you remember our trip from last year (here) you might remember how close to the woods we are here. It’s absolutely beautiful. So for me to go hiking through the woods….all I have to do is step outside and walk around a little.

It felt like walking through another world. Not quite as cool as the world named ‘Pandora’ in the new movie Avatar (which btw is AWESOME!) …. but definitely cool.

So… enjoy a glimpse into this other world I found. The world that seems so strange and new and yet is all around us.

Hier ist etwas, was ich sehr vermisse in Oklahoma. In Connecticut, Oregon und natürlich in Detuschland hatte ich die Möglichkeit binnen ein paar Minuten durch den Wald spazieren zu gehen. Ich geh doch so gerne spazieren. Alleine oder mit anderen. Ich nenn es unser ‘Abenteuertag’ mit den Kids. Wir nehmen uns je eine Plastiktüte und spazieren durch den Wald. Suhen coole Dinge, die wir dannin unserer Tüte ansammeln. Wenn wir dann wieder zu Hause sind gehen wir zusammen durch unseren gefundenen Schatz und versuchen sie mit den richtigen Namen auszuzeichnen.

Craig’s Eltern leben direkt im Wald. Einfach genial! Wenn ihr euch vielleicht noch an Blogeinträge von letztem Jahr erinnert (hier) wisst ihr bestimmt wie tief im Wald sie ihr Grundstück haben. Wie geaagt – einfach toll! Wenn ich also etwas durch den Wald spazieren möchte brauch ich einfach nur raus vor die Türe zu gehen.

Es kam mir vor wie eine andere Welt als ich vor ein paar Tage durch den Wald spayieren ging. Die Welt war zwar nicht ganz so cool wie die ‘Pandora’ Welt aus dem neuen Film ‘Avatar‘ (der so nebenbei einfach nur genial war!) aber es ist dennoch für mich eine wunderbare andere Welt.

Also…. ich hoffe ihr genießt die Eindrücke von dieser wunderbaren Welt die ich hier gefunden habe. Eine Welt so fremd und neu und dennoch direkt vor unsere Nase.

I am a HUGE sucker for Fall. It’s my favorite season along with spring. Of course living in Oregon and especially in Connecticut (with its breathtakingly beautiful Indian Summer) for each 3 years and growing up in Germany, a country with 4 seasons…. I am used to beautiful fall leaves. Watching in anticipation when the colors change from green to orange, to vibrant reds and deep, deep yellows. I love it!

So when I was out in Utah last weekend to shoot some commercial work for Blend Fashions – I was able to not only be surrounded by mountains again (yes – the real kind… not those rolling hilly thingies Oklahoma tries to pull off as mountains!) but also enjoy the beautiful fall foliage. Gosh – I love it! Utah is a beautiful state. No doubt about it.

While I was out there I stayed with old friends of mine. Patrick, or Rixon as I grew up to know him by, is an old family friend. I mean I don’t even remember how old/young I was when I first met him. I must have been in my pre-teens! For sure. So after many years I finally got to see him and his beautiful family (he and his wife just recently had their 4th child) again. This was actually the first time I met his kiddos… and boy! They are sooo much fun. They kept me great company. I hope we’ll hang out again soon…. next time hopefully with all of my Clan as well.

So…. on this special Sunday — enjoy a few glimpses from my trip to Utah! Beautiful Utah.

Ich LIEBE den Herbst. Es ist mit Abstand meine liebste Jahreszeit zusammen mit Frühling. Natürlich haben die letzten 6 Jahre, die wir in Oregon und besonders in Connecticut (mit dem unbeschreiblichen tollem Indian Sommer) gelebt haben meine Liebe, die sich entwickelt hat in meiner alten dt. Heimat, nurnoch verstärkt. Ich warte mit Vorfreude darauf, dass die grünen Blätter ihre Farben wechseln und mich überraschen mit wunderschönem orange, intensivem rot und knalligem gelb. Ich liebe es!

Als ich letztes WE beruflich in Utah war um eine Modereihe für Blend Fashions zu fotografieren habe ich es genossen endlich mal wieder richtige Berge zu sehen. (Nicht wie diese möchtegern Dinger die wir hier in Oklahoma haben.) Und in Utah war der Herbst schon in vollen Zügen und ich habe es so richtig genossen. Utah ist wirklich ein super schöner Staat.

Ich war über’s WE bei alten Freunden untergebracht. Patrick, oder wie ich ich kennengelernt habe ‘Rixon’, ist ein alter Freund meiner Familie. Ich kann mich garnicht daran erinnern wie alt/jung ich war als ich ihn zum 1. Mal kennengelernt habe. Das war bestimmt noch in der Grundschule. Nach vielen Jahren haben wir uns also endlich mal wiedergesehen. Für mich war es auch das erste Mal, dass ich seine komplette Familie kennengelernt habe. Mitlerweile hat er schon 4 wunderbare Kinder. Ich hatte wie ihr euch sicherlich vorstellen könnt, einen riesen Spaß mit seinen Kids. Ich hoffe, dass wir uns schon sehr bald wiedersehen koennen. Aber dann hoffentlich nicht nur ich alleine sondern mit meinem ganzen Cloward Clan!

So…. an diesem besonderen Sonntag — genießt ein paar Eindrüecke in’s wunderschöne, herbstliche Utah!
