Shabnam {portrait couture l oklahoma glamour photographer}

Let’s jump back in time. Back to my lovely time in Venice, Italy last summer. You met my dear friend Shabnam already from my 101 Group Workshop shoot. While we were in Venice, and while I had my friend with her exotic beauty within my grasp, we of course had to do a Couture Shoot as well. (She actually also modeled one of the bridal dresses for me in the streets of Venice, which I cannot wait to share with you as well at another time!)

Shabnam, as so many other of us, has been through lots of ups and downs over the years and to highlight her beauty, sensuality and straight up sexiness was something she well deserved. And I might even add….needed! 😉
I asked her to bring a black “slip”….thinking a nice, sexy, black slip to wear under your dress or skirt. Something to cover up with but still entice. Well, I forgot the fact that “slip” in German means “panty” in English….hahahah So instead she brought a super cute black 2 two-piece which she rocked! While shopping the local vendors I found this gorgeous lace mask which of course we had to incorporate. These are probably some of my favorite boudoir style images I have taken! Love them! And her! 🙂

Shabnam and I grew up singing and dancing together so I knew we also had to incorporate her love for music and movement. I encourage you to find out the likes and dislikes of your clients so that you may incorporate those into the shoot as well.

Over the last weeks and actually months, I have had many photographers ask me about how I light and shoot my Portrait Couture sessions. The answer is simple: natural available light coming from windows! Whenever I shoot here at my home “studio” I have generally 4-5 rooms at my disposal. My master bedroom, my master bathroom, the guest bedroom, the “library” as well as the “Kino”. The “Kino” (a large room we ultimately planned on using as a theater room and is currently being used for shoots and sleepovers…lol). I use 7ft large boards to create backgrounds and use a large variety of different white cardboards as reflectors. Now, when I was in Venice, obviously I did not schlepp those boards and reflectors with me. Heck no! You should’ve seen all the luggage we had to carry through the streets of Venice getting to our flat. That was enough for us, thank you very much! 😉 So, what did I do? Again, I used window light! I removed some art from the wall by the bed because I found it very distracting. I also draped a white bed sheet over the closet that was to my left. (the window was to my right) And we propped up some white pillows in front of me as smaller reflectors to bounce some light back into her face. I wish I would have had someone take a snapshot of us that day. It was quite hilarious! For the dancing scenes….you can see the sheer curtains over the windows (I have sheer curtains only in front of the large windows in my Kino!) that softened the light coming in. I also had someone else hold up a that white bed sheet (thanks darling Milena!!) I had draped over the closet to basically surround her with soft, luminous light. As you can see….you can create beautiful images anywhere. All you have to do, is think outside the box! (Having a white sheet with you always helps too!)

Oh, I should probably mention that her shoot will be featured over on the Bridal Detective later this month. I’ll be sure to link her feature once it’s published. 🙂 Yay!!!

Heute moechte ich gerne ein Shooting mit euch teilen, dass schon etwas in der Vergangenheit, jedoch NICHT in Vergessenheit liegt. Ihr kennt meine Freundin Shabnam ja schon von meinem Shooting fuer meinen 101 Group Workshop in Venedig letzten Sommer. Da ich sie schonmal vor Ort hatte, mussten wir natuerlich mehrmals miteinander shooten. Sie hat u.a. auch eines der Brautkleider fuer mich in den Straszen von Venedig gemodelt, was ich etwas spaeter mit euch teilen werde. Shabnam ist so eine wahnsinnig sinnlische, sexy und exotische Schoenhheit. Wir hatten super viel Spass waehrend ihrem Portrait Couture Shooting.

Shabnam, wie so viele andere auch, hat schon so einiges miterlebt in ihrem Leben und hatte ein Shooting mit mir, in dem ihre Sinnlichkeit, Schoenheit und Sexyness hervorgehoben wurde, total verdient! Und wenn ich mich nicht irre, sogar dringend gebraucht! 😉
Ich hatte sie gebeten einen schwarzen ‘Slip’ mit zu bringen. hahaha….Ich hatte allerdings voll vergessen das ein dt. Slip etwas anders ist als das englishe Wort slip. LOL Hier ist es quasi ein Unterrock/-kleid und nicht ein Unterhoeschen. hehe Dennoch sah sie super aus in ihrem 2-teiler und ich muss sagen, dass sie mit meine liesten Boudoir Fotos sind, die ich bisher gemacht habe. 😉 Das i-Tuepfelchen fuer mich war jedoch die geniale Maske die ich bei einem Strassenverkaeufer entdeckt hatte. Soooo cool!

Shabnam und ich haben in unserer Jugend viel Zeit mit Singen und Tanzen verbracht. Ich musste ihre Liebe fuer Musik und Bewegung also mit in ihr Shooting integrieren. Das ist ein guter Tipp fuer andere Fotografen: findet heraus was eure Kunden lieben und versucht dann wenn es moeglich ist, dieses mit in eure Shootings einzubauen.

Viele Fotografen haben mich bereits ueber die letzten Wochen/Monate hinweg gefragt wie ich denn meine Portrait Couture Shootings “belichte”. Ganz einfach: natuerliches, vorhandenes Fensterlicht! Hier bei mir zu Hause in meinem “Studio” habe ich 4-5 Zimmer in denen ich normalerweise meine Couture Shootings habe. Das Schlfzimmer von meinem Mann und mir, unser Badezimmer, und Gaestezimmer, die “Bibliothek” und unser “Kino”. (Das Kino ist ein grosses Zimmer was urspruenglich mit Projektor Surround sound und coolen Sesslen verplant war….zur Zeit wird es jedoch zum shooten und fuer sleep-overs fuer die Kids benutzt. haha) Ich habe 2,5m grosse Papp-/Styroporplatten die ich als Hinntergrund und Reflektor benutze. Ausseerdem habe ich saemtliche kleinee weisse Kartons die als Reflektoren nutzen. Natuerlich hab ich diese riesen Dinger nicht mit nach Venedig geschleppt. hahaha das waere es ja noch gewesen. Wir hatten sowieso schon so viel Gepaeck und die riesen Dinger haetten uns das Letzte gegeben. So….was hab ich also gemacht? Ich habe wie auch sonst das gute Fensterlicht benutzt. Am Kopf vopm Bett hing irgendwas, was ich runtergenommen habe, da es mich einfach gestoert hat. Dann hab ich ein Bettlaken links von mir ueber den Schrank gehangen und hab kleinere weisse Kissen direkt vor mir gehabt die das Licht leicht zurueck in ihr Gesicht reflektiert haben. Bei den Tanzszenen sieht man die duennen weissen Gardinen vor den Fenstern. (Hier bei mir zu Hause hab ich nur solche Gardinen in meinem Kino….sonst nirgends!) Allerdings war auch hier jemand (ranked, ranked liebste Milena!!) so hilfsbereich und hat ein grosses weisses Laken vor mich gehalten damit Shabnam regelrecht umhuellt war mit zartem, leuchtendem Licht. Es ist also ueberall machbar…insofern man ausserhalb der Box denkt!
